After a brief announcement at the Baselworld 2019, Bell & Ross finally officially unveiled its new collection called “BR 05.” There are some apparent similarities between new high-end watches and the iconic Royal Oak and Nautilus models. However, one of the founders of Bell & Ross, Bruno Belamich, does not deny that the 1970s served as the source of inspiration for the creation of BR 05. New wristwatches are designed in the same spirit but presented in a different price segment.

Ten stylish timepieces represent the BR 05 collection. Six of them are classic watches manufactures of stainless steel, two – timekeeping devices with skeleton-type mechanism, and another two – models set in a rose gold case. An important detail – the bracelet (as an alternative, a rubber strap is offered) is integrated into the case. As noted by Bruno Belamich, integrated bracelet matches the Bell & Ross stylistic codes and brings a fresh feature to the appearance of new high-end watches. This design solution is found in timepieces dating back to the 1970s and, if applied to Bell & Ross, we get something modern and graphic.

The case with a diameter of 40 millimeters has kept an impressive water-resistance level of up to 100 meters. At the same time, it has a relatively small thickness (about 11 millimeters), and in general, these refined wristwatches look quite compact. In the decoration of the case, as well as in the decoration of the bracelet links, matte surfaces alternate with polished ones. The bracelet is really comfortable in wearing. Its links narrow slightly from the case towards the clasp, making it more expensive to produce, although more aesthetic to wear.

As for the shape of the case, it became more smooth and rounded but kept the branded Bell & Ross screws inspired by the instrument panel of the aircraft. The dial is available in silver-grey, blue and black colors. The hour scale features Arabic numerals executed in signature Bell & Ross design and extended indexes with rounded contours. For better readability, the date window has a metal border.

Inside the case (regardless of the version) automatic caliber BR-CAL.321, which is based on the Sellita SW-300 mechanism, is installed. Assembled on 25 jewels, this reliable mechanism with a skeletonized rotor and a balance frequency of 28800 PCs/hour provides a 42-hour power reserve. The estimated cost of new high-end watches depends on the version – $4,400 for a steel model with a rubber strap, or $4,900 for a steel wristwatch on a bracelet. The only limited timekeeping device in the collection – a skeleton timepiece, the release of which is limited to a series of 500 copies. It will cost you $5,900 (version with a rubber strap) or $6,400 (version with a bracelet). BR 05 models with a rose gold case cost $21,500 (rubber strap version) and $32,500 (bracelet version).
