With the release of myriads of tech-savvy timekeeping devices, tourbillon has become nothing less than a necessity – every third luxury watch produced by world-known brands comes with this complication. Thus, Hublot and Jacob & Co. introduced stunning tourbillon-equipped models.
Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon
Hublot has equipped the model from the Spirit of Big Bang collection with a tourbillon. This high-end watch received a barrel-shaped case of 42 x 13.25 millimeters, which looks incredibly impressive due to its material – carbon fiber with black and blue inclusions of the composite. The new Big Bang timekeeping device also has a carbon bezel fixed to the case with six H-shaped titanium screws and a back cover equipped with a sapphire crystal insert.
The caliber HUB6020 with manual winding, repeating the barrel-shaped case, has been developed specifically for this bold wristwatch. The skeletonized dial of this top-notch timepiece attracts attention with its non-standard indication layout. The hour and minute hands are shifted to the 3-o’clock position, while tourbillon is located at the 6-o’clock position, which, however, is quite standard. The power reserve indicator occupies the sector around the 8-hour mark. It provides this fancy timepiece with 5 days of stable work without winding.
Both models are limited to 100 copies each. In addition, for the first time in the Spirit of Big Bang collection, high-end watches are equipped with a quick replacement strap “One-Click.” The strap – black or blue depending on the color of the case – is produced from rubber.
Jacob & Co. Super Mystery Central Tourbillon
This refined timekeeping device represents a unique tandem of two three-axis tourbillons framed by sparkling diamonds.
Among the novelties of 2019, the company Jacob & Co. presented jewelry watches in which the idea of two central three-axis tourbillons was implemented for the first time. The rotation speed of each tourbillon is 60 seconds on one axis and 2 minutes on the second and third axes.
A gorgeous diamond mosaic in which hexagonal stones are overlapped and arranged at angle frames the complex construction with tourbillons. The massive white gold case (50 x 25 millimeters) and the lugs (also known as alligator strap mounts) are also encrusted with shiny diamonds.
This high-end watch displays time by means of two discs rotating in the central part around the tourbillons. The minute disc is encrusted with 119 white diamonds (approximately 6.80 karats) and one ruby (≈ 0.18 karats), which serves as a minute indicator. Jacob & Co. masters decided to do the same with the hour disc, the only difference being the diamonds on it are larger (119 precious stones weighing approximately 7.93 karats). As for the ruby, which serves as the hour hand, it is also larger (≈ 0.28 karats). The inner bezel is encrusted with 108 white diamonds (around 4.56 karats) and 12 blue sapphires (approximately 1.49 karats).
The operation of this impeccable timepiece is provided by caliber JCAM32 equipped with a manual winding and a 60-hour power reserve. This gem of Haute Horlogerie world is released in a single copy.
