Let’s find out what’s new in the world of high-end watchmaking from Panerai and IWC.

Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech™ 44 mm

The small second hand at the 9-o’clock mark is a distinctive feature of the Panerai Luminor Marina models. The main timepieces of the series are made of Carbotech, a carbon fiber composite.

The pillow-shaped case, winding crown protection, and side second hand are other characteristics of the Luminor Marina product line of the Panerai brand. Cases up to 47 millimeters in diameter will certainly draw attention to your wrist. Even the eye-catching crown protection is visible from a distance. It protects the head from impacts and presses it firmly into the case.

The main luxury watches of the collection are made of Goldtech red gold and have a power reserve of up to 8 days, which corresponds to 192 hours. The innovative red gold alloy has increased copper content, which enhances the red hue. Besides, the alloy contains platinum, which prevents oxidation.

Another highlight is the Luminor Marina 1950 Carbotech 3 Days Automatic. The 44-mm case of this diver wristwatch is made of carbon fiber composite Carbotech, consisting of several thinnest, compressed carbon fiber sheets. Due to the pressing, unique shades are formed, making each instance of the Panerai Carbotech model unique.

The company Panerai has announced the launch of the Luminor Marina Carbotech™ 44 mm (PAM01661). This new timekeeping device in 2020 marks the rebirth of the Luminor Marina collection. For the first time, the timepiece combines a case made of high-tech carbon composite (developed by Laboratorio di Idee Panerai) and the brand’s iconic “sandwich” case using a blue phosphor.

The case with a waterproofness index of 300 meters is made of carbon fibers compressed under high pressure and controlled temperature, using PEEK (polyether ether ketone) as a matrix. This design provides not only high impact resistance and resistance to corrosion but also aesthetic appeal. The special texture of the material with a characteristic uneven pattern makes each instance of the series unique.

This timekeeping device works in the rhythm of a mechanism that has become an integral part of the Luminor Marina watch family. We are talking about the caliber 9010, which is entirely developed in the walls of the Panerai manufactory in Neuchatel. Being only 6 millimeters in thickness, this mechanism is equipped with a quick adjustment system that allows you to synchronize the date and time settings. The mechanism has a three-day power reserve, which is provided by two winding drums.

The fashionable novelty can be worn on a black Panerai Sportech™ waterproof strap. The material resembling rubber is stitched with a blue line. The kit also includes an additional black rubber strap and a screwdriver for removing the clasp. The estimated cost of the model is $12,800.

IWC Portugieser Chronograph 69355

The Portugieser Chronograph is one of the most popular and least modified models in the IWC watch portfolio. First introduced back in the 1990s, chronographs from this product line were initially equipped with Valjoux mechanisms, and recently were switched to Sellita calibers. At the same time, the collection also used calibers of IWC’s own production – these were luxury watches of the 89000 series. According to information from the company’s official website, from now on, 69000 series mechanisms will be used instead of them, and now Portugieser wristwatches will cost less.

The estimated cost of timepieces in the steel version is $7,950. For variants in the rose gold case, you will have to pay $17,800.
